We want to give our Pack resources that’ll get them started on social media and help grow their account.
Below you’ll find ways to help you garner the following and engagement you deserve!

With over 1 billion monthly active users, Instagram is a powerful platform for writers to utilize.

Below are tips and tricks you can use to boost your writing to the top of Instagram hashtags, giving your content more exposure and ranking in the Top posts section, and eventually hitting the explore page!

  1. Hashtags are your best friend on Instagram, and Instagram allows you to use a maximum of 30 per post. If you don’t want to use 30, it’s recommended that you use a minimum of 10-15. Using popular hashtags with millions/billions of posts will result in yours being swallowed by the tide of posts coming in, causing it to be spammed away and likely nobody seeing it.
  2. Use niche hashtags that don’t have millions/billions of posts. Aim for hashtags that have 100,000-1,000,000 posts.
  3. Always alternate your hashtags, never use the same tags for every post. Instagram’s algorithm will see the repeated use as spam and your posts will likely not show up.
  4. Some writers like to put their Instagram hashtags in the caption, while others like to put them in the comments because it looks cleaner. Do what looks better to you.

Banned Hashtags

If Instagram bans a hashtag and you use it with other tags, the post will not show up on any of the pages for the tag you used. This means that the post isn’t getting noticed by anyone but those that follow your account.

For example, the hashtag “#thought” is banned, and you’ll see “Recent posts from #thought are currently hidden because the community has reported some content that may not meet Instagram's community guidelines.”

If you want to change up the hashtags you're using (which is highly encouraged so you're not blocked by Instagram's algorithm), please check them for the message above. A similar message will be in the “Top” posts section.
